Weather: 30 degrees, feels like 18 degrees with windchill
What I’m listening to:
Wind gusting outside, trees swaying and bending

Forget the Halloween candy hiding in the cupboard, these cookies are much more worthy of your attention. Chocolate? Yes. Peanut butter? Yes. Pretzels? Oh yes. And don’t forget that salty, sweet, gooey, chewy, crunchy goodness. They basically speak for themselves. Can somebody please pass the milk?

Salty Sweet Pretzel Cookies

  • 3/4c butter, softened
  • 1c light brown sugar
  • 1/2c sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1t vanilla
  • 2c flour
  • 1t baking soda
  • 1/4t salt
  • 3/4c pretzel sticks, broken into pieces, but not crushed
  • 1/2c chocolate chips
  • 1/2c peanut butter chips

Preheat oven to 325. Grease two cookie sheets.

Cream butter and sugars together. Incorporate eggs and vanilla.

Gradually add flour, baking soda, and salt. Add pretzels, and both kinds of chips. Mix until just combined.

Scoop dough, using a medium cookie scoop, onto cookie sheets.

Bake 12-14 minutes until golden on edges, being careful not to over bake. The center of cookies may appear slightly underdone, but will settle as they cool.
